Changing the way operators deliver TV

Scrambler / Descrambler

  • Overview
  • Features

DVB and AES Scrambling
The Appear TV scrambler module is compatible with all major CA systems and supports both DVB-CSA and AES scrambling algorithms. The module fits in all Appear TV modular chassis, including the new XC5000 and XC5100. The modular design makes it possible to tailor the scrambler with a wide choice of input and output modules, making it one of the most powerful scrambling solutions on the marked. The system can also be combined with descrambling for a complete re-scrambling solution. It is an ideal solution for all cable and broadband operators.

The Appear TV scrambling module is a professional broadcast scrambler for integration with any CA system supporting the DVB Simulcrypt interface. BISS is also supported. Scrambling of all common video formats are supported, such as MPEG-2 and H.264 both in SD and HD resolution. The scrambler has a dedicated Ethernet interface towards the CA server and is fully DVB Simulcrypt compliant. Being a hardware based solution it can scramble as many as 250 services, at a combined rate of up to 850 Mbit/s. The scrambler can be combined with any of the available input, descrambling and output modules in the same chassis, enabling operators to manage services from reception to streaming from a single user interface.

Professional CAM and Bulk Descrambling
Appear TV’s high performance multi-service descramblers maximize receiver utilization and simplify system design and deployment. Appear TV provides two types of descramblers, both for integration into the modular XC5000 and XC5100 chassis platforms.

The standard descrambler module has two Common Interface (DVB-CI) slots, allowing descrambling with industry-standard CAM modules. It comes with several advanced features such as automatic CAM reset and can support up to 10 services per CAM. Combined with the right input module it can descramble services from any source, such as DVB-S/S2/S2X/T/T2/C or even IP and ASI.

The bulk descrambler is used for high-rate descrambling of a large number of services and is aimed at cardless CA systems such as Latens and Verimatrix. Integrated with selected CA vendor partners, it is capable of descrambling up to 250 CSA or AES scrambled services at a combined rate of up to 850 Mbit/s. The bulk descrambler also supports BISS descrambling, at the same high data rate.

Appear TV’s descramblers are an efficient, space and energy saving solution ideal for professional operators.
