Stofa chooses Appear TV Transcoding Headends

Appear TV, a leading global provider of next-generation head-ends for broadcast and IP television, today announced that it has collaborated with long-standing partner Stofa, the triple play Danish cable operator, to expand Stofa’s service offering through provision of Appear TV’s transcoding solutions. The project, which is now live, has MPEG-2 services received at Stofa’s media centre by satellite, the 180 channels are transcoded to MPEG-4 and groomed by Appear TV’s Transcoding Head-Ends and then distributed to Stofa’s cable customers over its existing network.

Appear TV, a leading global provider of next-generation head-ends for broadcast and IP television, today announced the launch of the industry’s most advanced IP seamless switching technology across its range of head-ends.

This new switch performs seamless switching, where two independent multicast networks rings are monitored for packet loss and switched to ensure the output is the better of the two. This is enhanced with new functionality that monitors both networks simultaneously to ”reconstruct” the original data on the basis that the two networks are independent and will therefore not be subject to the same degradations, such as packet loss, at exactly the same time.

Appear TV, a leading global provider of next-generation head-ends for broadcast and IP television, today announced that it has supplied head-ends to Red Intercable, a leading video service provider and content aggregator servicing more than 200 cable operators in Argentina, reaching over 500 towns and cities. These solutions enable the operator to distribute its programming to affiliate cable operators throughout Argentina. The Appear TV supplied head-ends are live at 38 sites, the rollout will continue throughout 2012/3 and it is envisaged that Red Intercable will use Appear TV head-ends to reach over 200 operators.

Appear TV, a leading global provider of next-generation head-ends for broadcast and IP television, today announced the increased density of its leading range of demodulation modules that have double the density of its previous demodulation solutions for DVB-T and QAM Cable, which integrate with all Appear TV head end chassis’. In addition, Appear TV also announced the launch of advanced new DVB-S/S2 demodulation functionality, including support for DVB-S2 Multistream, which makes the primary distribution of transport stream over satellite much more flexible and efficient.
